My Plant Pal
Students use their creativity, imagination, and plant observations to turn their growing plants into unique characters with names, personalities, interests, and backstories. Then students practice presenting their characters to each other before pairing up to create a story of their Plant Pals meeting and going on adventures together. Lessons are composed of both core learning activities and flexible extensions to fit different program needs.
The Full Student Experience
What Happens Class to Class
1Create a Plant Pal
Students use their imagination and observations of the plants they've started growing to transform it into a unique character, developing a name, hometown, interests, personality, and backstory. Students will illustrate characteristics and features on the pots they are growing their plants in to further identify their Plant Pal.
2Practice & Present
Students work in pairs to describe their Plant Pals, practice speaking confidently about their story, and share their characters with the class.
3Plant Pal Adventures
Students pair up to create an original story about their Plant Pals meeting, discovering a common interest, and going on an adventure together.
