Level: Beginner

Beginner projects can typically be completed with little tooling (if any). Assembly can be completed in 20 - 45 minutes, and we recommend 60 - 90 minutes for planning and personalization. This project is appropriate for students in grades TK and above.

Objective: Construct a DIY Tangram Jr Puzzle

Students will use basic carpentry skills to build their very own DIY Tangram Jr Puzzle. With a blank canvas ready for creative expression, students will have the chance to design their own personalized puzzle pieces. Whether they go for a classic look or add a fun twist, it's a great opportunity to blend art with play. Plus, once it's assembled, students will be challenged to solve the puzzle, make new shapes, and apply problem-solving skills with their new Tangram Jr.

Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:

• If you could build any animal or object with shapes, what parts would you use, and what would you make?

• What are some examples of objects in the world that match the shapes that we are working with today?
