Lockbox

Watch our DIY Lockbox instructional video online.

Level: Advanced

Advanced projects can typically be completed with 2-5 tools. Assembly can be completed in 60 - 90 minutes, and we recommend 60 - 90 minutes for planning and personalization. This project is appropriate for students in grades 5 and above.

Objective: Construct a DIY lockbox

Students will use basic carpentry skills to build their very own DIY lockbox. Students will have the chance to unleash their creativity by decorating their lockboxes, turning them into unique gifts or stylish household accents.

Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:

  • What are some examples of things a person might want to keep in a lockbox?

  • Besides a lockbox, what can people use to keep things private or safe?
