Wall Clock

Level: Beginner

Beginner projects can typically be completed with little tooling (if any). Assembly can be completed in 20-30 minutes. We recommend this project for students ages 7+.

Objective: Construct a wall clock & tell time

Students will learn the differences between telling time from an analog vs. a digital clock. Students have an opportunity to get creative and give their wall clocks a theme (e.g. roman numerals, standard numbers, illustrations that represent their hobbies).

Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings on telling time by prompting questions such as:

  • What does A.M. and P.M. stand for?

  • How many hours are in a day?

  • Why are there only 12 numbers on the face of the clock?

  • What surprised you about building your wall clock?

The following supplies & materials are included with this project:

  • Wooden circle for face of clock

  • Clock dial & small parts (washers, screws, hooks for hanging)
