Large Cajon Drum

Level: Intermediate

Intermediate projects can typically be completed with 1-3 tools. Assembly can be completed in 45 minutes. We recommend this project for students ages 11+.

Objective: Construct a large cajon drum

Students will use basic carpentry skills to build a large cajon drum. Students will have an opportunity to get creative and decorate their cajon, making them a perfect household decoration.

Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:

• What was challenging about constructing your large cajon drum?

• How was building this project different or similar to other projects you’ve built?

Supplies & Materials:

The following supplies & materials are included with this project:

• Wooden parts for assembly

• Hardware (nails, snare, screws, etc.)

• Wood glue and Q-tips for application

• Sandpaper

Art supplies and a hammer are not included but can be provided upon request. A hammer is included in our standard toolset.
