DIY Wall Clock
Level: Beginner
Beginner projects can typically be completed with little tooling (if any). Assembly can be completed in 20 - 45 minutes, and we recommend 60 - 90 minutes for planning and personalization. This project is appropriate for students in grades 1 and above.
Objective: Construct a DIY wall clock & tell time on an analog clock
Students will learn the differences between telling time from an analog vs a digital clock. Students have an opportunity to get creative and give their DIY wall clocks a theme (e.g. Roman numerals, standard numbers, and illustrations that represent their hobbies).
Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings on telling time by prompting questions such as:
What does A.M. and P.M. stand for?
How many hours are in a day?
Why are there only 12 numbers on the face of the clock?
What surprised you about building your wall clock?
