DIY Toolbox
Level: Intermediate
Intermediate projects can typically be completed with 1-3 tools. Assembly can be completed in 45 - 75 minutes, and we recommend 90 - 120 minutes for planning and personalization. This project is appropriate for students in grades 3 and above.
Objective: Construct a DIY toolbox
Students will use basic carpentry skills to build their very own DIY toolbox. Students have an opportunity to get creative and decorate their toolbox, making them a perfect gift or storage bin for toys or desk supplies at home.
Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:
What was challenging or easy about building your toolbox?
What might you store in your toolbox?
Why do you think we sanded the dowel before we placed it as the handle?
Why is it important to wipe off excess wood glue?
