DIY Planter Box
Level: Intermediate
Intermediate projects can typically be completed with 1-3 tools. Assembly can be completed in 45 - 75 minutes, and we recommend 90 - 120 minutes for planning and personalization. This project is appropriate for students in grades 2 and above.
Objective: Construct a DIY planter box, plant a seed, and learn basic plant care
Students will use basic carpentry skills to build their very own DIY planter box. Students will have an opportunity to get creative and decorate their planter boxes, making them a perfect gift or household decoration once they’ve planted a seed and learned how to care for their new plant.
Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:
What skills were required for you to assemble the planter box?
How might you build a larger planter box?
How will you care for your seed?
