DIY Finger Basketball
Level: Intermediate
Intermediate projects can typically be completed with 1-3 tools. Assembly can be completed in 45 - 75 minutes, and we recommend 60 - 90 minutes for planning and personalization. This project is appropriate for students in grades 2 and above.
Objective: Construct a DIY finger basketball court
Students will use basic carpentry skills to build their very own DIY finger basketball court. Students will have an opportunity to get creative and decorate their finger basketball court, helping them express their interests and personality. After assembly and decoration, students will also get to participate in games with their classmates to see who can score the most points under pressure!
Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:
What tools did you learn how to use in order to assemble your DIY Finger Basketball court?
How does the angle of the launcher affect the trajectory of the ball? Can you predict where the ball will go based on the angle?
Why was it important to not overtighten the screws to the acrylic parts?
Do you have a favorite NBA or WNBA team that you follow?
