DIY Candy Dispenser
Level: Beginner
Beginner projects can typically be completed with little tooling (if any). Assembly can be completed in 20 - 45 minutes, and we recommend 60 - 90 minutes for planning and personalization. This project is appropriate for students in grades 1 and above.
Objective: Construct a DIY candy dispenser
Students will use basic carpentry skills to build their very own DIY candy dispenser – gumball machine, pistachio dispenser, use it to hold whatever you like best!) . Students will have an opportunity to get creative and share their interests by drawing on or painting their candy dispensers and filling it with their favorite small items.
Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:
What skills were required for you to assemble the candy dispenser?
How did sanding the dowels affect their fit in the dowel holes for each layer of the base?
Why was it important to avoid glueing or painting the slide?
How was it more or less challenging than other projects?
